Head of Communications
Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council
Game keeper turned poacher. Most of my early career was spent as a journalist with the most exciting period as a crime reporter working on many significant criminal stories providing material for local and national publications. I was the first journalist in England to have their own office in a working police headquarters. I switched to local government communications in 2005. I am currently part of the Wider Management Team at Newcastle-under-Lyme and a member of the Council’s Digital Delivery Board. Despite a working life stretching back more than 40 years my mum still thinks my finest achievement ever was back in 1971 when I passed the 11+ to become a pupil at Henry Smiths Grammar School at home in Hartlepool!
