Programme Director for Social Security Scotland - Scottish Government

I have worked in the Civil Service for over 30 years, with 20 years’ experience in Programme and Project Management delivering major transformational change. I joined Scottish Government in 2016 as Programme Director within the Social Security Directorate, setting the strategic direction for designing, building and delivering a new Social Security Agency and Infrastructure which includes benefits platforms, case management system, document management and telephony.

Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, partners and suppliers, I have championed a new approach to Service Design and Digital Delivery in Social Security Scotland, placing customers at its very heart and ensuring our service is user-centric and easily accessible. Social Security Scotland is a modern, award-winning digital service delivering a world class customer experience – winning the Best Test Automation Project in 2021, in partnership with 2i Testing and the Best Agile Project in 2020 at the European Software Testing Awards, the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) award for Change and Transformation in the Public Sector in 2020, and the Scottish Government Campbell Christie Public Service Reform Award in 2021.

I am proud to be part of this major change initiative for the people of Scotland. I see this as a truly unique opportunity to safely and securely design, build and implement a new service, working collaboratively with our customers to ensure what we deliver meets the needs of this country.
