In his current position, under the “Scotland’s 8th City – the Smart City’ Programme and in collaboration with the 8th City Data Cluster (comprising Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth and Stirling), James has successfully launched Stirling Council’s Open Data Publishing Platform and continues to develop this capability. This involves working with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including elected members, the Scottish Government, other local authorities, private sector organisations and the universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling.

The activities associated with this remit draw extensively on James’ experience as a business analyst, software developer, team leader and project and programme manager gained from working in and across several public and private sector organisations.

“Scotland’s 8th City – the Smart City” is an ambitious programme headed by the Scottish Cities Alliance with financial support from the European Regional Development Fund.
